Message from Hazel Kahan, WPKN’s News Director

If, like the other newsreaders in our WPKN newsgroup, you are interested in the news and have the technological know-how to record and edit simple voice-only audio scripts, perhaps you would enjoy reading the Connecticut and Long Island news stories for our Monday-Friday newscast.

Being a newsreader means working from home for an hour or so on the same weekday every week. You will receive that day’s script no later than 12:30 pm and are asked to return an mp3 recording to the news director no later than 5 pm that day. Our newscasts run between 5:00 and 5:30 minutes.

If you’re intrigued by this possibility, please write to me with your contact information at [email protected] and I will get back without delay to you to tell you more.

If you’re not familiar with our WPKN Local News newscast, please tune to WPKN or wpkn.org every weekday at 6:55 pm and 11 pm(10 pm on Fridays).

Thank you.
Hazel Kahan
