8:30 PM, Colin and Caroline, a folk duo, talking about their new singles, “Miles Away” and “In My Shoes.”
9:00, Mamak Khadem, Iranian singer resident in Los Angeles, who infuses her traditional music with trip hop and other influences.
9:30, saxophonist Dave Wilson, talking about “Stretching Supreme,” his tribute to John Coltrane’s “A Love Supreme.” Says Wilson, “I started listening to Coltrane when I was 15 back in 1970, and his music propelled me to rent a saxophone (I played clarinet in the band), and start some rudimentary improvising at the time. It’s never gone away, his influence; always been there in some manner or form.”
