Voices Café and WPKN Radio Present Deeper Than The Skin:
Telling The Story of Race in America through Song
On Sunday, February 20th at 7:30 pm the acclaimed duo of Reggie Harris and Greg Greenway bring their signature performance, Deeper Than The Skin, back to Voices Café, in-person and live-streamed. Voices Café is located at The Unitarian Church in Westport, 10 Lyons Plains Road, Westport. For tickets go to voicescafe.org.
Deeper Than The Skin is a deeply personal presentation in song and story of the issue of race in America. With beautifully performed songs and words, Reggie and Greg share a compelling story of racial injustice faced down with creative resistance, friendship, music, and joy.
This musical experience has been described as “a profoundly moving evening of deep sharing… riveting, poignant, joyful… with exquisite timing, careful phrasing, and the stellar musicianship and storytelling; as craft, the evening was remarkable.”
Reggie and Greg have an inspiring story to share through music… two friends… one Black, one White… one from the North… one from the South… musicians, storytellers, students of history and world travelers… and born just 3 days apart! While racial divisions in America brought them into two very different worlds, the amazing bonds of music, shared vision, and sheer admiration have brought them together as friends, colleagues, and committed pilgrims on a journey that is Deeper Than The Skin.
NOTE: All participants, including patrons, performers and volunteers, must be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 for our February 20th show. Patrons will be asked to show proof of vaccination and masks will be required at all times while in the building.
