Funding Will Support Independent Community Radio Broadcast
Bridgeport, CT – WPKN has been awarded a $5,000 grant from Newman’s Own Foundation, the independent foundation created by the late actor and philanthropist, Paul Newman. The award to WPKN was made by Newman’s Own Foundation as part of its commitment to support community broadcasting through independent radio. The grant to WPKN will be used to support the ongoing operating expenses of the station.
Says WPKN General Manager Steve di Costanzo, “We are thrilled to receive this generous grant from Newman’s Own Foundation both for the immediate impact to WPKN and also for the recognition and acknowledgment of ongoing value that the radio station has in our community.”
WPKN is dedicated to the mission of strengthening and enriching our community through programming that is provocative, innovative, and free from commercial influence and promotes diversity, tolerance, and freedom of expression.
