The Table Underground

The Table Underground centers inspiring stories of marginalized peoples and ways of being as well as stories of allies. Most stories are rooted around work in the food system, everything from restaurants and food trucks to farmers, seed savers, and composters. Stories uplift cultural connections to food, traditions, ways of being, as well as social movements and the broader importance of these connections in people’s lives and liberation both individually and communally. We also look at broader topics within the food system such as community and worker organizing, policy, and supports for change that benefit people and our planet. These topics may also include indigenous sovereignty, land justice, Black liberation, cooperatives, relationships with nature, spiritual or religious traditions, love and relationship building as core to justice and liberation and more. Many stories are rooted in people from our CT communities, but also from across our nation and globe.
