Sometimes Classical

Since 1977, I have had the privilege of sharing my love of music and sound with the WPKN audience. I have a deep appreciation for the uniqueness of this radio station and its legacy.

Trained as a classical musician, I play bassoon and saxophone and bang out rhythms on any surface. I am proud to have founded a jazz club in Westport, CT, and have served on the boards of many local cultural institutions, including WPKN.

I have never confined my radio program to any one genre. I love sharing something new, reviving something old, or unearthing something excitingly unfamiliar.

My program, “Sometimes Classical”, has always included “Classical” music. Still, it may be a jazz interpretation of Mozart, or a motet with harmonies to contrast with those of Crosby, Stills, and Nash. Then again, it may be a themed hour of whistled tunes, or fugues from Brubeck and Bach, or Circus music, Disney, Laurie Anderson, pygmy calls, or Zoot Sims.

I call it Eclectic Musical Discovery.
