Mike Zito

Zeeto first started doing radio on WPKN early in 1973. A little later in the 70s, he managed the Carriage House Coffee House bringing “A-List” musicians to Fairfield County. Just a few examples are Dave Van Ronk, Tom Paxton, Utah Phillips, Pierre Bensusan, a very young Bela Fleck [with Tasty Licks], Bill Staines, and Kate Wolf. Many of these artists’ concerts were played over PKN, as well as being interviewed live.

When Zeeto left the Carriage House, he created a science show for kids called “Zeeto the Bubbleman”. Among the highlights were opening for Shari Lewis; performing on Family Day of the Dr. Seuss exhibit at the Baltimore Museum of Arts; and having Gordon Duncan create his song “Zeeto the Bubbleman”.

He then taught radio, TV and film at Staples High School. He was advisor to WWPT the student radio station, which was honored to win many national awards (including Best High School Radio Station in the country), and Zeeto was twice awarded the nation’s outstanding faculty advisor.

Through it all, community radio has been Zeeto’s passion. His show could be loosely described as Americana. It will feature a mix of some of the latest releases and old favorites.
