Spirit Matters with Annette Szczesiul airs every third Wednesday of the month  12- 1 pm. Spirit matters is a monthly program dedicated to meditative sitting and making time for quiet and reflection.  Every third Wednesday listeners are invited to enjoy a slowed-down lunchtime getaway of calm.  Each episode Annette will guide listeners through a period of quiet sitting (no religious bent or denomination required) accompanied by beautiful sounds, music, and thought/feeling provoking readings.  Sometimes pre-recorded, sometimes live in the studio, occasional interviews and guests; always going easy and softly and breathing deeply.  A peaceful break from a chaotic world.  Join me! Cliff Furnald

2022-11-10T20:18:15-05:00

Cliff Furnald airs on Thursday Mornings, 7 to 10 AM — As democracy fades, Cliff plays music. New music. Old music. Local music. Music that is local somewhere else. Wherever you are, there you are. It might be jazz. It might not be. Might be folk, could be avant-garde. Rock music? Why not? It’s most unlikely that it will be opera, but you just can’t be sure. He will idly chatter from time to time, as well. But don’t worry, it never lasts too long. You can find out more about what you hear on the program at RootsWorld. Cliff Furnald brings music little heard on the radio ...

Mikki’s Room is an ongoing tribute to Mikki Barnes, a long-time WPKN programmer who passed away in August of 2021. The show airs Saturday Night, 10 PM to 2 AM. Her loss will be felt by us all and especially those who loved her show. She was such a force of life and spirit. Mikki started at WPKN in 1982 and she filled the airwaves with countless hours of great radio. Her program was dedicated to those behind the walls and demonstrated her support for many who are often forgotten. Mikki’s show touched thousands of people in a very deep way. It is important that we continue to reach out to ...

The Carousel

2021-04-13T07:53:25-04:00

The Carousel is a program comprised mostly of “kindie” music. This relatively new genre of music had its roots in children's folk tunes of the 90's. Today, it has become the creative and expressive medium for musicians to showcase children's and family-oriented music. It encompasses all types of genres: rock, folk, blues, country, reggae, hip-hop, etc. The program airs on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturday of each month from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. I try to keep the music upbeat, but I also include recorded stories, lullabies and songs that are educational and empowering. Join me, Dave Z, for a listening experience unlike anything else in Connecticut — and ...
