Counterpoint with Scott Harris
1) Ryan Costello, Policy Director with the National Iranian American Council will examine widespread protests that have erupted across Iran after the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman who was arrested by the morality police for allegedly violating religious law requiring women to wear headscarfs, as well as ongoing negotiations to revive the Iran nuclear deal.
2) Dr. John P. Willerton, Professor of Political Science at the University of Arizona will discuss recent news from the war in Ukraine, including reports that the Ukrainian military has recaptured territory in the north, President Putin’s mobilization of 300,000 reserve troops, and assessing how western corporate media is covering the conflict.
3) Russell Mokhiber, the editor of the Corporate Crime Reporter, discusses how New York State Attorney General Letitia James’ lawsuit filed against Donald Trump and his children for ‘staggering’ fraud ― exposes the large number of wealthy individuals and corporations that regularly escape scrutiny, prosecution and accountability for tax fraud and other so-called “white collar” crimes.
4) Jake Love, an attorney working with Alianza Americas will discuss his group’s recently filed lawsuit against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the State of Florida for their exploitation of vulnerable asylum seekers as political props by deceiving dozens of immigrants to travel to east coast cities and the Massachusetts island of Martha’s Vineyard, and the larger issue of what must be done to repair our nation’s broken immigration system.
