Soca & Calypso Showcase with ICON airs 8-10 PM, on the 1st Saturday of the month. Soca music (defined by Lord Shorty, its inventor, as the “(So)ul of (Ca)lypso”) is a genre of music that originated in Trinidad and Tobago in the early 1970s and developed into a range of styles during the 1980s and after. Calypso is a style of Afro-Caribbean music that originated in Trinidad and Tobago during the early to mid-19th century and spread to the rest of the Caribbean Antilles and Venezuela by the mid-20th century.

Icon produces The Soca Showcase 8 PM to 10 PM on the 1st Saturday of the month and In The Domain occasionally on Saturday afternoons from 4 PM to 7 PM.

Both shows present music and interviews on current issues with guests. Listeners are offered an opportunity to experience a variety of musical genres: jazz, blues, reggae, classic rock, soca, calypso, classic R&B, and more. The program is unique in that it offers music that, in many instances, can’t be found on the airwaves.
