The Kitchen Sink
Catherine Conroy — Host of The Kitchen Sink
WPKN 89.5 FM | Fourth Thursday of every month, 8–11 PM
Bridgeport-born and raised, Catherine Conroy has been a proud voice on WPKN for ten years. Her monthly show, The Kitchen Sink, lives up to its name — an eclectic, non-denominational mix that celebrates all genres and eras of music. With an open ear and a deep respect for sound in all its forms, Catherine curates a listening experience that’s both unpredictable and deeply human.
Beyond the mic, Catherine has played a key role in shaping WPKN’s modern presence — helping to develop the station’s social media voice and contributing to the website’s redesign. She has also served two terms on WPKN’s Board of Directors, reflecting her long-standing commitment to the station’s mission and community.
Off the air, Catherine is a creative marketing professional working at the intersection of urban ecosystems and digital technology. A strong writer, communicator, and visual storyteller, she’s known for her intuitive grasp of social trends and her ability to translate ideas into engaging, resonant narratives — whether through words, imagery, or sound.
Artists You’ll Hear on The Kitchen Sink: Beck, LCD Soundsystem, Gorillaz, Tame Impala, Sturgill Simpson, Geese, Ty Segall, Billy Strings, The Moody Blues, Van Morrison, Yes, Talking Heads, Primus, Frank Zappa, Erykah Badu, alt-J, Little Feat, Modest Mouse, My Morning Jacket, Wu-Tang Clan, Simon & Garfunkel, and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Favorite Thing About WPKN:
“WPKN is in the heart of my hometown, Bridgeport, CT, and firmly planted in my own heart as well. My father has been a listener for as long as I can remember — his car replete with every generation of bumper sticker and our cabinets full of WPKN mugs. The station was always playing as ambient noise throughout our house, and I’ve carried that habit into my own home, complete with a vintage radio identical to the one I grew up with.”
