Her book is “Eight Bears: Mythic Past and Imperiled Future.” Then, we talk about another iconic imperiled species: wolves. First Voices Radio with Tiokasin Ghosthorse

This week’s guest on First Voices Radio hosted by Tiokasin Ghosthorse is WPKN’s own Binnie Klein. An author and psychotherapist, her latest creative project is an indie music collaboration with an Australian singer-songwriter who performs as Tartie (Natasha Anderson). Continents apart, separated by time zones and a pandemic, Tartie’s musical take on Binnie’s lyrics of memory, betrayal, loss, and ultimate liberation was just the right fit. “Ablaze,” the most recent release for “In These Trees and Tartie,” is a poignant protest against our heartless treatment of the earth. Jennifer Kreisberg (Tuscarora) from Ulali provides back-up vocals. Host Tiokasin Ghosthorse says: “We forget about our impact on Earth with our rational justifications…. These songs need to be medicine songs, healing songs, ancient tried and true songs.”
